What to expect?
Your adventure begins with an early departure from your hotel in Kandy, followed by a comfortable drive to the high-altitude plains of Horton Plains National Park. Located over 2,000 meters above sea level, the park offers a refreshing climate, open grasslands, cloud forests, and incredible panoramic scenery. It is one of the most unique ecosystems in the country and a protected natural treasure.
Upon arrival, you will begin a guided trek through well-marked trails surrounded by misty landscapes and diverse flora and fauna. Horton Plains is home to several endemic species, and with some luck, you may spot wildlife such as deer, unique birds, and other native animals in their natural habitat. The peaceful environment and cool air make the hike both enjoyable and memorable.
The highlight of the visit is the famous World’s End viewpoint. This dramatic cliff drops steeply to the plains below, offering breathtaking views that stretch across valleys and, on clear days, all the way toward the southern coast.
